Provide no-cost confidential, personalized business counseling to both start-up and existing small businesses.
Manage the operations of the Center to include budgeting, marketing, fundraising and compliance.
Maintain a network of business and community resources and connect entrepreneurs with those resources when appropriate.
Work with community leaders to promote small-business awareness.
Collaborate with organizations that assist small businesses to develop a cohesive entrepreneurial eco-system.
Supervise and evaluate support staff and consultants.
Identify small-business training and educational needs and use this information to design and deliver workshops and classes.
Utilize suggestions from an advisory board and hold twice-a-year meetings as a minimum. · Participate in the statewide SBDC strategic planning process. · Perform other related work duties assigned by Iowa Western Community College as well as Americaâ??s Small Business Development Center Iowaâ??s State Office
Use database applications to create and manage files and communicate requested information,
Bachelorâ??s degree, (Master Degree Preferred). Or seven yearsâ?? experience working with/at a small business or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong research and project management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to articulate in both small and large group settings and with diverse groups of people including co-workers, students, business contacts and at various levels from front-line to administration.
Strong computational ability to include mathematic calculations and analyzing statistical data.
Strong organizational skills including the ability to multi-task, to meet deadlines, to maintain and access paper and electronic files, to produce error-free final products, and to manage time and output.
Excellent customer service skills required.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
Enthusiastic and dedicated to the challenges of helping other people.
Ability to function collaboratively as part of a fast-paced, customer-oriented team.
