Racial and Ethnic Approach to Community Health (REACH) is a community and academic collaboration that brings culturally appropriate strategies and implementation to close the health disparities gaps in specified chronic diseases in African American/Blacks and the Hispanic/Latino population. The Bilingual Project Specialist is a grant funded position and reports to the Program Supervisor.  Will work with the specified communities, grant partners and the evaluation specialist. Together with the team, will assist in conducting a systematic review of health and wellness policies within each grant partners’ organization structures, with an emphasis on procedures, organization systems and environmental conditions (PSE) to identify gaps and areas of improvement. Serves as the primary liaison between the African American/Black and the Hispanic/Latino communities as specified by the REACH grant. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinates all the grant activities in the partner churches, schools, Federally Qualified clinics, Omaha Housing towers and organizations
  • Provides communities with health disparities education in both English and Spanish
  • Manages the administrative aspects of the REACH grant which includes meeting agenda, analysis and reporting
  • Develop power point and other communication materials in English and Spanish
  • Coordinates research, training and interventions for 40 Community Health Workers (CHW)
    In English and Spanish
  • Understands the needs of the CHWs and meets them at their point of need
  • Works in collaboration with the Data Manager/IT and Communication Specialist to create brochures and newsletter and promotion materials in English and Spanish
  • Maintain minutes and communications for all meetings and related activities
  • Develops and maintains REACH community relations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service and ability to resolve conflict and handle demanding clients
  • Ability to think independently and analyze problems and reach solutions with all REACH partners and CHWs

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree, Masters degree preferred
  • 2-4 years Experience in health disparities knowledge and working with diverse community relations
  • 2-4 years experience in health education of community members
  • Proficient in written and spoken English and Spanish
